The Mitsubishi Lancer

Looks Like Evo Does it?

What modern car enthusiasts go for on these new wave of cars are the sporty ones. People choose these kind of cars mainly because of the ease in handling and speed. This is why compact cars are doing well in the market. One of the best examples and best selling compact car is the Mitsubishi Lancer. It is called in a lot of names, Colt Lancer, Dodge/Plymouth Colt, Chrysler Valiant Lancer, Chrysler Lancer, Eagle Summit, Hindustan Lancer, Soueast Lioncel, Mitsubishi Carisma, and Mitsubishi Mirage. But when we say World Rally Championships and Tommi Makinen, only the thought of Mitsubishi Lancer should come out.

Mitsubishi has now produced eight generations of the Lancer, including the very amazing Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution that gave them 4 WRC titles. Each generation are largely sold on the markets of Australia, Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, some parts of Europe, Latin America and North America. >From 1973 to 1999, each units are adapting the subcompact class. It was only changed to compact class in 2000. For every generations, the Lancer experienced a lot of facelifts to catch up with the changes on consumer preference.

This new decade, the attention is all on the newest 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer. This new breed of the Lancer ranks 19th of 29 most affordable small cars. This is despite the critics beliefs that the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer has an aggressive exterior styling. The well-known Mitsubishi's Ralliart helped in the customization of this car. They worked in improving the line trims of the car.

2010 Mitsubishi Lancer comes in 4 trims The DE and ES are the base and mid-level models while the GTS and Ralliart are the two top-of-the line trims. New for 2010 is the Lancer Sportback, a five-door hatchback version of the Lancer available in GTS and Ralliart trims. DE and ES, offer stylish and competent basic transportation, though they make do with a noisy and relatively inefficient 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The top-of-the-line ralliart bridges the chasm between the workaday Lancers and the ultra-performance Lancer Evolution while on the other hand, the GTS features an extraordinarily smooth 2.4 liter four cylinder engine and an appealing mix of performance and affordability.

For many enthusiasts, the strength of the car is found on the comfortable front seats and impressive cargo capacity. You can also notice its edge over other mainstream economy cars like Honda and Toyota, on the interior quality, base engine refinement, fuel economy and most of all, reputation. You can get an above average handling and fun to drive sporting variants.

The weakness of the 2010 Lancer is found on the interior. It cannot match its aggressiveness outside, making it look destructive while driving. It also lacks volume and tuning knobs and not-quite-logical layout make operation tricky at times.
